Brief Profile:Dr Naveen Parkash Gupta

Dr Naveen is a highly qualified neonatologist and child specialist with vast overseas experience in Neonatology. After finishing his post graduation in paediatrics he did his super specialization in neonatology (DNB Neonatology) from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, he went to British Columbia Children Hospital, Vancouver to do Fellowship in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine. He received training in functional echocardiography and neonatal hemodynamics there. He was lead neonatologist at Max Super speciality hospital, Patparganj from 2011 – 2017. Presently he is senior consultant neonatology in Madhukar Rainbow Children Hospital, Delhi. Dr Naveen is a national faculty in many teaching programs in neonatology like neonatal resuscitation program and facility based neonatal care. He is actively involved in conducing CMEs and workshops at national level. He was running neonatal fellowship program at his centre and was involved in various research projects. Immunization

Immunization is the process whereby a person is made immune or resistant to an infectious disease, typically by the administration of a vaccine. Vaccines stimulate the body's own immune system to protect the person against subsequent infection or disease.

Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP) is a prevention activity comprised of GM linked with promotion (usually counseling) that increases awareness about child growth; improves caring practices; increases demand for other services, as needed; and serves as the core activity in an integrated child health and nutrition

Consult for premature and growth restricted infants

Why is it important to determine whether a newborn is small due to prematurity or small due to IUGR?

The reason is that the potential medical difficulties after birth may be different. Some premature newborns have no problems at all whereas some may have immature lungs causing respiratory distress syndrome, "yellow" jaundice due to immaturity of liver function, and apnea which is an irregular breathing pattern caused by an immature nervous system. Infants born IUGR/SGA have an increased risk of meconium aspiration and thick blood (polycythemia).

Nebulization

Take apart the nebulizer. Wash all parts (except tubing and finger valve) in liquid dish soap and water. Rinse with water. After washing the nebulizer shake off any excess water. Reattach the nebulizer pieces and tubing to the air compressor and turn on the compressor to dry the nebulizer quickly. Make sure the nebulizer is completely dry before storing the nebulizer.

We visit Dr Naveen for our 13 month old daughter and we travel a bit just to be able to see him. He is extremely professional, polite and has an amazing knowledge of his area. The most important thing about a Paediatrician is that you should be able to trust the guy with your baby and that he will always do what is best for the child, something that is rarely seen in the medical profession these days where people just care about the money.
